To all unfunny people
If you are thinking about simply regurgitating a reference to some movie or TV show, don’t. It’s not funny.
If you do make the mistake of doing the above and the other person doesn’t get the reference, don’t accuse them of not being socially aware enough to “get” your humor. It’s not their fault they didn’t watch some shitty show that you happen to hold in high esteem. It’s your fault for not making them laugh because you didn’t know your audience. Learn from your mistakes, and don’t do it again.
Nothing pisses people off like being told that they aren’t “cool” enough to appreciate “your style of humor.” Guess what, if a lot of people don’t find it funny, it’s not fucking funny. That’s how comedy works.
Comedy is a learned skill. If you aren’t willing to work at it, just don’t bother. Nobody likes pretending to laugh (and if it ever seems like people are pretending, they most definitely are). Give it up or clean up your act.
